NEW Zealand World Cup squad member Aaron Clapham is hoping to earn himself an A-League deal with a trial at Newcastle Jets and rumours of interest from North Queensland Fury.
The Canterbury United player believes he is ready for an A-League deal and hopes the next few weeks will allow him to convince a coach to take him on.
"I've had an agent working on a couple of things but I haven't spoken to him for a couple of weeks," he told stuff.nz.
One of four NZFC players in the World Cup squad, Clapham said: "I definitely think I'm ready (for the A-League). I've always said I believe I'm good enough and nothing's changed. I think I've got even more belief in my ability now.
"I've seen the best players in the world in the last couple of weeks and you see they're human too and they make mistakes like every other player does."
Clapham believes the World Cup shows reality rather than the hype.
He added: "I think you put them on a pedestal because you see them on TV and you know how much money they make so you think they're perfect. But they're not."
