The club's strength and conditioning coach will form one half of a two-man advanced party which will jet off ahead of the squad this weekend.

Clark, who was on the bench for Wednesday night's draw with Pohang Steelers, wants to make sure any potential problems are dealt with and that the team's arrival is as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

"It's a question of getting there, checking things out, looking at transfer times to training and the stadium and making sure there are certain things the boys feel comfortable with," he told au.fourfourtwo.com today.

An iconic Australian spread will be making the trip to China along with numerous boxes of an equally well-known breakfast cereal for example.

"We'll be meeting the rest of the lads when they land at the airport, getting them something to eat and drink, make sure they don't need to check in at the hotel and can go straight to their rooms," said Clark.

"If you were a businessman and endured a terrible trip and then found problems at the other end, you'd find it difficult to then go into an important meeting. There are mental and physical demands on players and you want to make things go as smoothly as possible."

The club's recent two-game tour of China was a big help and it means the expected chill next week won't come as a shock.

Clark added: "The game kicks off at 8pm and we could be looking at a temperature of around zero. But one of our sponsors has provided us with garments which really help when you are in an environment of less than 10 degrees.

"That (the temperature) won't be an excuse."

Despite a schedule that will also include planning a route for morning walks, locating an emergency supermarket and looking at training facilities, Clark jokes that all this work won't leave him too exhaused to play, should the call come.

His teammates don't call him the fittest player at the club for nothing. He said: "I see this preparation work as part of the strength and conditioning role but I'm just as passionate about playing my football and I'd love to be in there.

"It certainly makes life exciting."
