MELBOURNE Heart skipper Simon Colosimo has been ruled out of tomorrow night's inaugural showdown with cross town rivals Melbourne Victory through injury, the club has revealed.
The 31-year-old central defender was substituted in the 51st minute of Heart’s recent defeat to Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium after sustaining a neck injury.
While Colosimo had participated in modified training this week, the club has determined that the 26-time Socceroo will be unable to take the field for the Melbourne derby.
Matt Thompson will now don the captain’s armband and lead the side onto the field for tomorrow’s match.
