EXCLUSIVE: Melbourne Heart captain Simon Colosimo insists he is at the helm of the first 'pure football' club in Australia as the A-League new boys prepare for their opening night on the big stage.
Heart entertain Central Coast Mariners on Thursday evening, kicking off a new season and a new era for football in the Victorian capital.
Players, coaching staff and the club's administration department are all tingling with anticipation and Colosimo is proud to be part of a set up that he has nothing but admiration for.
It is a club with a unique place in Australia's professional footballing landscape according to the former Sydney FC man.
Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com at the A-League's season six launch in Sydney, he was hailing the club's methods and approach to the challenges ahead.
"Take nothing away from the other clubs and what they're doing behind the scenes, but this is the first true 'football' club in the A-League," he said.
"Look at the stadium we play out of, it's a football stadium. Our training facilities are football training facilities. Our administration staff, they're football people.
"Every single decision, whether a player signing, a sponsorship or where we're going to have our lunch, everything's based on football. It's a pure football club, the first one in this country."
Colosimo may be happy but that doesn't mean he is complacent - far from it.
"If you go into a club, business, if you don't try and improve there's something wrong. We feel we're definitely on the right track," he added.
"But first up, it's Central Coast. We're looking forward to the game, I think the whole league is looking forward to this game.
"As for the whole situation going into the season, I think the game (football) is very, very healthy at the moment and has improved every single year of the A-League."
