The Dutchman was also left to rue how the result may have been different if United had been able to go two goals in front.

“You don’t do it on purpose of course. It was 1-nil and we changed our system a little bit at the end of the game by putting Travis (Dodd) as a second striker with Sergio so we could create something, and in that period you have some possibilities to score the second goal because you know they’re going to take some risks,” Coolen said.

“Football is a game of mistakes and we conceded a goal from a set piece and you think you can take a point, but you still felt that one of the teams could win the game.”

“I’m not happy with the result…it wasn’t necessary five minutes before the end of the game knowing you have opportunities in the game to score a second one.”

“But I’m not disappointed in the players, they played well, there were a lot of good football moments, not everything was perfect but they worked real hard.”
