Cork had their European dreams dashed after they went down to a 1-0 defeat against Swedish side Hammarby in the second leg of their second-round Intertoto Cup clash.
The teams drew 1-1 in last week's first leg at Turner's Cross with the Swedes gaining an automatic advantage of an away goal.
It meant the Irish had to score at least once at the Rasunda in Stockholm if they were to progress but they were unable to do so as they were edged out.
