The 33-year-old is targeting a place in Argentina's World Cup squad in 2010 but knows he has to be a first-choice striker at club level to convince national team coach Alfio Basile he is worthy of a place.

Crespo bemoaned the lack of communication with Inter coach Jose Mourinho, who loaned the Argentinian out to AC Milan when he took over as coach of Chelsea in 2004.

Mourinho has so far this season preferred Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli in attack, leaving Crespo out of the squad altogether for the midweek Champions League win over Panathinaikos.

"Nobody told me that I would not be playing in the league games or that I wasn't in the Champions League squad," Crespo told Ole newspaper.

"I have to wait and see how things go. My decision is to wait until January.

"If I could choose, I would remain at Inter. But if not, I could go anywhere. I want to play at least as a first or second choice striker.

"The worst thing is that I don't play and nobody tells me anything.

"I want to play at the World Cup. I have a year and a half to be there and that is not much. But I have to do something. Coach Basile doesn't call on me because I don't play for Inter.

"It would be amazing to be in the World Cup. It is my dream, my objective."

Argentina have endured a mixed World Cup qualifying campaign so far, having drawn their last four games, and Crespo is desperate to help them.

Crespo also said he is not keen on returning to his homeland to continue his career.

"I know that the national squad are going trough a difficult spell and, although I don't want to pretend I am a saviour or anything, I want to be there," he added. "I have been playing with the national side for 13 years.

"I don't think that returning to Argentina will be the way to be in the national squad. That doesn't guarantee a place. The ones who play are in Europe."
