Alex Gersbach’s season just got even better after Rosenborg won the Norwegian Cup, while Trent Sainsbury’s side are in the box seat to win the Chinese Cup final after a first leg draw overnight.
In overnight action, Gersbach’s Rosenborg crushed Kongsvinger 4-0 to win the Norwegian Cup final.
Paal Andre Helland with a hat-trick did the damage for Rosenborg.
In front of over 26,000 fans at the Ullevaal Stadion, the Australian full back was an 82nd minute substitute for the hero Helland.
Rosenborg have now won the double for their second straight season.
Meanwhile in China, Trent Sainsbury’s Jiangsu Suning have put laid the platform after a crucial 1-1 result away to Guangzhou Evergrande in the first leg of the Chinese Cup final.
Ricardo Goulart gave Guangzhou the lead on nine minutes before Alex Teixeira levelled for Sainsbury's side after the break.
Jiangsu will host the second leg in Nanjing next week.
