The Holland midfielder's contract at the second-placed Eredivisie side is up this summer and Davids hinted that talks are imminent.

Davids, who is in his second spell at the club, has regained fitness after missing the first half of the season with a broken shin bone.

He told www.fcupdate.nl: "We will look in the next few weeks and take it from there.

"I want to tell the club what I want, then I'll see if they want to keep me.

"We will discuss my future and then make a decision."

The 34-year-old made his first-team debut for Ajax in 1991 and won the Champions League with them in 1995.

The tenacious midfielder has had spells at some of Europe's top clubs including AC Milan, Internazionale, Juventus, Barcelona and Tottenham before returning to Ajax last January.
