Dong Tam Long An returned to Vietnamese league action on Sunday after their midweek AFC Champions League excursion to Shandong, but slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Da Nang.
Goals in the 34th and 61st minutes from Almeida de Emidio condemned Dong Tam to their third defeat in seven games, leaving them in eighth place in the 14-team league.
There was better news for newly-promoted Dong Thap however, who earned their first win since moving into the top division when they defeated Hoa Phat Hanoi 3-2.
Jucelio Das Silva gave Hoa Phat the lead after 13 minutes only for Albert Bosango to pull his side level two minutes later.
Duoc Em put Dong Thap in front in the 59th minute but William Santos restored parity eight minutes later.
However, with 18 minutes to go, Thanh Binh hit the winner as Dong Thap moved off the bottom of the table and up to 12th.
