Yokohama F. Marinos’ Socceroo Milos Degenek believes the J.League club will be chasing trophies after Ange Postecoglou’s appointment as their head coach on Tuesday.
“Knowing the boss and the way we’ve played with the Socceroos, it’s been modern football.
“Hopefully we can elevate to another level when he comes in and brings his philosophy and we follow into that.”
Postecoglou handed Degenek his maiden Socceroos call-up and debut but the defender said the Australian’s appointment would unlikely afford him any favours.
“Obviously his appointment it gives me a bit of an extra boost knowing an Aussie is going to be there as well,” Degenek said.
“Then again, it’s football and he’s not going to look at me any different to other players.

“In football, there’s no favourites, you work hard and prove yourself. The benefit I have is that I know the boss already for two years.
“I’m grateful he’s going to be here and work with me again.
“I’m forever grateful to him for (my debut). I respect him a lot and think of him highly.
“I have a great football relationship with him, where we’ve had success with the Socceroos, achieving what we wanted. Our relationship will continue to build here.”
