Everton manager Roberto Martinez thinks loan signing Gerard Deulofeu will need time to adapt despite initial excitement over his capture.
Deulofeu moved to Goodison Park on a season-long loan from Barcelona earlier in the month after scoring 18 goals for the Catalan club's B team last term.
The signing of the Spain Under-21 international has created a buzz among Everton fans but, while Martinez understands the hype surrounding Deulofeu, he is not anticipating an immediate impact.
"It is because he is already a star in his own right," Martinez told The Liverpool Echo.
"He is already fulfilling expectations of an older player and that creates an awe. And to score 18 goals in the Barcelona second team at his age, shows the potential of the player.
"Everyone feels he will be ready one day to play for the first team at Barcelona. So when you get a player like that it is going to set that excitement off.
"But we also need to be understanding that he is a young man coming into a completely different culture and we want to help him settle in.
"We want him to be happy that he has chosen Everton for the next stage of his career. He is only going to be as good as we are at creating the right environment for him."
