Djulbic was the savior for Gold Coast with a late headed winner against Melbourne Victory to win Sunday’s elimination final 1-0 at Skilled Park.

And the former South Melbourne, Perth Glory and Rot-Weiss Essen player wasn’t taking too much notice of the star-studded line-up awaiting his team on Sunday in their second do-or-die encounter in a week.

So, how do they stop Leckie, Flores, Van Dijk and the in-form Travis Dodd?

“Just like how we stopped Archie, Kruse, Allsopp and Hernandez.," Djulbic told au.fourfourtwo.com. "I don’t think names come into play.

"We know how they play, we’ve trained hard and Miron has done everything at training. And we do have a plan how to play against them."

That plan, explained Djulbic, wasn’t so much about staying compact and hitting the Reds on the break with the speed of striking trio Shane Smeltz, Joel Porter and former Red Bruce Djite.

“If they take it to us, it’s going to be a very attacking game," he said. "We don’t just want to sit back and relax because all the games we’ve won this year have been when we’ve gone out there and gone at teams rather than just sitting there.

“That’s worked for us. We’re on a high at the moment. We regrouped after two losses following that heavy schedule. It worked last weekend and I think we have to go over there [to Adelaide] with the same mentality.

“The more desperate team is going to win it.”

If the result doesn’t go their way, this successful United side is likely to regenerate with marquee man Jason Culina confirmed as leaving for Newcastle.

And if you believe the reports, Smeltz could also be Hunter bound while Zenon Caravella has signed with Adelaide. Steve Pantelidis is also said to be off.

Djulbic himself is weighing up a move to Asia post A-League finals. But he has enjoyed living on the Gold Coast so much he’s even bought a house there. “Everyone’s so nice here, we all get along. I just had lunch with Scotty Higgins and he doesn’t irritate me at all,” he said with a smile.

And after last week’s heroics, United fly to the City of Churches quietly confident of irritating the Reds and keeping the dream alive for another week.

For Adelaide, Paul Reid has apparently settled his differences with the club and could play against Gold Coast in place of injured Pancho Usucar.

Midfielder Adam Hughes should be available despite missing training midweek with a knock while the Cassio walkout from training – he stormed off complaining the Reds weren’t training hard enough – has been played down by the club.

It all makes for an intriguing elimination final.

And Djulbic won't be shy in getting forward on set-pieces. “You can count on that,” promised the big defender, who turned 28 last week.

He added: “The message before the game will be simple: don’t leave anything in the change-rooms We know this could be our last game together. That’s encouragement enough. No-one wants to leave on a bad note.”
