Dodd has issued the rallying cry in the hope of getting a sold out stadium for the Reds' Grand Final rematch against great rivals Victory.

The captain said Reds fans cannot underestimate their value and importance to the team, particularly in big matches.

"I know we say it all the time, but the parochial home crowd really is like having an extra man on the field," said Dodd. "Our crowds have been absolutely fantastic so far this season, and there would be nothing better than to have a full house at Hindmarsh on Friday night."

The last time Adelaide United had over 15,000 at Hindmarsh Stadium in the A-League was for the first leg leg of the 2006/7 Major Semi- Final against Melbourne Victory, 15,575 packing in to see the teams play out a tense scoreless draw.

"They are always big games. There is a great and healthy rivalry between us and Melbourne, and this game will be no exception," Dodd said.

Adding even more to the game is that Melbourne captain Kevin Muscat is likely to make his return from a hamstring injury, the Victory antagonist never far from the spotlight whenever the teams do battle.

Dodd added: "We all know that he (Muscat) is a massive character in our game and that he likes to get under the skin of the opposition, so hopefully he plays and then we can get as many Reds fans to the game as possible to give Kevin and the rest of Melbourne's squad a nice big Adelaide United welcome."

Friday's game at Hindmarsh, the only regular season clash at the venue this year, kicks off at 7.30pm ACST.
