Italy coach Roberto Donadoni was satisfied with his team's triumph over Georgia in Euro 2008 qualifying, but he admits there is room for improvement.
Goals from AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo and Lyon left-back Fabio Grosso earned the world champions a 2-0 win on Saturday night in Genoa.
"The important thing for us was to win and we have succeeded in our objective," said Donadoni.
"I am satisfied because we have played well and my players showed the right spirit."
Luca Toni did strike the post but it wasn't until Pirlo's free-kick before half-time that Italy finally broke the deadlock.
Despite Georgia offering little opposition, Italy only killed the game off with seven minutes remaining.
"We played better in the first half, especially in terms of intensity," admitted Donadoni.
"At the re-start we controlled the game and we managed to put the game beyond our rivals' reach."
The result allowed the Azzurri to leapfrog France and move into second place in Group B, one point behind leaders Scotland with two games remaining.
Donadoni is well aware his team must step up their game in view of their crucial qualifying clash in Scotland on November 17.
"I didn't see the game against Scotland," said Donadoni. "Now we have one month to prepare for our game against Scotland. There are some things we need to improve on, in terms of play as well as condition, because some of my players are not at their best."
The Azzurri will return to action on Wednesday when they take on South Africa in an international friendly in Siena.
