The world champions take on Alex McLeish's side on March 28 in Bari, while the Scots face Georgia four days earlier at Hampden Park - a game Donadoni will be watching with interest.

"I want to go on Saturday morning to Glasgow to see them [Scotland] play," said Donadoni.

"We know nothing about their coach and we have only seen some videos.

"I have my own vision but it would be better to see them play in order to have a better idea of who we are facing."

The Italians are two points behind joint Group B leaders France and Scotland after four games, and know the importance of their upcoming encounter.

"I don't have the luxury of making too many speeches but I know that the game against Scotland is of great importance to us," said Donadoni. "We want to and we must win."

Italy have yet to play an official game this year as their planned friendly against Romania in February was cancelled after the death of a policeman at the Sicilian derby between Catania and Palermo led to the temporary suspension of football in the country.

"It's not an alibi but it's a handicap not to have played for some time," Donadoni added.

To make matters worse, Donadoni will have to do without several key players, with defenders Alessandro Nesta and Fabio Grosso out injured while Roma captain Francesco Totti is unavailable until September.
