The home side know a draw at Beijing Workers' Stadium will ensure qualification behind Group E winners Seongnam Ilhwa.

Beijing coach Hong Yuanshuo will be without suspended Croatian midfielder Darko Matic with Xu Liang expected to deputise.

"We were very meticulous in our preparations," Hong said.

"My team have matured in the past year and I believe we can keep our tactical discipline though it is a decisive match."

Kawasaki know only a third win of the campaign will do after suffering a 3-1 home defeat by Beijing last month, but Shuhei Terada and North Korea striker Jong Tae-se are suspended.

"Beijing are a powerful team. We won't be able to beat them unless we play our best football," said manager Tsutomu Takahata.

Kawasaki beat Seongnam 3-0 two weeks ago, but the Koreans had already made sure of top spot and home advantage in the one-off last 16.

And with the knockout stage game taking place in just two weeks while also competing domestically in the K-League, Seongnam coach Shin Tae-young will use the opportunity to expose his youngsters to continental competition against already-eliminated Melbourne Victory at the Tancheon Stadium.

"I want to give some of our young players a chance to show what they can do," he said.

"We have already reached the second round and can play without pressure on Wednesday but we still plan to win."

A-League runners-up Melbourne have scored just one goal in picking up four points from five games and coach Ernie Merrick will be without suspended Thai defender Surat Sukha.

He said: "We lost at home to Seongnam but were are looking to win this time around.

"We will use some young players but this is not a big problem as we also have experienced players with us."
