Overall, the Belgians shaded possession and offered more power and strength through midfield.

Parried an early effort from Touri Tielemans and spilt a cross which appeared comfortable. Looked like he got a fingertip to the goal.

Strong in the air on the right side of a back three. Made an important goal line clearance following a goalmouth scramble.

Won most of his duels with Michy Batshuayi and made some important clearances. Subbed off at half-time.

Phil Jones 5

A few loose passes when trying to play out from the back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Trusted to take set-pieces. Put in an energetic performance at wing-back.

Danny Rose 6

Made some threatening forays forward in the first-half. Allowed Januzaj to cut inside and score the winning goal.

Eric Dier 5

Shielded the back four but occasionally dropped too deep which allowed Belgium to dominate midfield.

Fabian Delph 6

Beavered away in midfield and was accurate with most of his passes.Struggled with Belgium's physicality in the middle of the park.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 5

Made a few forward runs with the ball when space opened up in the second half but was mostly anonymous in midfield.

Pace in behind caused Belgium problems early on. Should have equlised when he was sent one-on-one with the keeper.

Neat move and through ball released Rashford. Was constantly looking for an opening which never came.

Got turned a couple of times which led to fouls. Stood up to Rose's charging runs.

Was caught not tracking back a couple of time in an unfamilour wing-back position.

​Strong on the ball and kept possession well. It always seemed like he had another gear.

A constant threat from set-plays. Ruffled a few feathers as he took charge in midfield.

Tested Pickford early on. Tricky with the ball at his feet.

Looked dangerous when he was allowed to cut inside. Punished England with a great finish.
