Croatia made history as they came from a goal down to beat England 2-1 to make their first World Cup Final and stop the Three Lions from bringing it home.
After five minutes England fans sang ‘it’s coming home’ without any hint of irony when Kieran Trippier's superb free kick was curled up and over Croatia’s wall.
Croatia equalised in the 68th minute when Sime Vrsaljko’s deep cross from the right curled towards the far post and Ivan Perisic nipped in from behind Kyle Walker and struck a powerful volley.
In the 19th minute of extra-time Croatia found the winner when Perisic beat Trippier to a header and the ball found Mario Mandzukic who struck the ball perfectly past Pickford into the bottom right.
England
Jordan Pickford – (GK) 6
Wasn’t busy at all until Croatia equalised and was then called upon more often, making a number of saves and clearances. Couldn’t be blamed for Croatia’s winner.

Kyle Walker 6
Was solid up until he conceded a silly yellow when time wasting in the 54th minute Had a dodgy spell thereafter and was beaten to the ball for Croatia’s equaliser.
John Stones 6
A mixed defensive display but with quality ball distribution. Had the winning header cleared off the line in extra-time but was asleep for Croatia’s winner.
Harry Maguire 6
Not as consistent a performance, looked a bit shaky with mistimed headers and passes but played his heart out.
Ashley Young 6
A mostly solid display by the right-wing back. He produced a great defensive clearance in the 33rd minute.
Kieran Trippier 7
Gave England the lead with a superb free-kick and was forgiven for that haircut. A great display but looked nervous after the equaliser and was beaten by Perisic who set up the winning goal.
Jordan Henderson 6
Was strong on the ball and covered well in defence. His positional play was excellent.
Jesse Lingard 6
Great turn and pass to Alli that led to the opening goal. His speed troubled Croatia’s defence when in possession. Should’ve scored in the 77th minute when he was through on goal.
Dele Alli 6
A classy display, linked and up well with his teammates in midfield.
Raheem Sterling 5
Made a nice penetrating run in the first half but nothing of note after that.
Harry Kane 5
Should have scored in the 30th and was relatively quiet by his standards.
Subs
Rashford 6
Was busy when he came on and made a couple of runs down the wing
Rose 6
Brought some much needed energy to the left when he came on.
Dier N/A
Didn’t do enough to warrant a fair rating.
Danijel Subasic - (GK) 6
Not his best work for the free-kick. Did well to stop Kane midway in the first half twice but wasn’t troubled much after that.
Ivan Strinic 6
Gave away possession early that was almost costly but did put in some decent crosses and kept Trippier at bay for most of the game.
Domagoj Vida 7
Made a few last-ditch tackles and was solid in possession.
Dejan Lovren 7
Made some key tackles and was strong on the ball.
Sime Vrsaljko 8
Found space on the right but no end product until his perfect cross found Perisic in the 68th minute for Croatia’s equaliser. Did superb to head Stones' goal-bound header off the line.
Luka Modric 7
Tried to find space and play passes but was let down by his teammates. Found some energy after the goal and overall put in a classy display.

Ivan Rakitic 7
Hardly figured early on and didn’t create much but stepped up after the equaliser.
Ante Rebic 7
Was one of Croatia busiest, contributing with crosses, shots, as well as fouls throughout the game.
Marcelo Brozovic 6
Was busy in midfield without having a profound impact but was solid nonetheless. Fluffed a shot in extra time when he found space in the box to shoot.
Ivan Perisic 8
A great volleyed finish for the equaliser, then hit the post and had another attempt that he couldn’t control. A superb header to put through Mandzukic for the goal.
Mario Mandzukic 8
Was quiet until he had a great chance in the 82nd minute but couldn’t put away the volleyed effort. Had another opportunity to score in extra time but was thwarted by Pickford. A great finish for the winner.
Subs
Josip Pivaric 5
Nothing of note when came on.
Kramaric 5
Didn’t do much when he came on in extra-time.
Badelj N/A
Didn’t do enough to warrant a fair rating.
Corluka N/A
Didn’t do enough to warrant a fair rating.
