Young Australian talent Aiden O’Neill believes his loan move to League One club Oldham is the key to taking the next step in his career after making his Premier League debut this season.
The Brisbane-born 18-year-old has made five appearances for Burnley this season, the bulk coming early in the campaign.
O'Neill had been one of only three Australians to play in the Premier League this term, alongside Bournemouth pair Adam Federici and Brad Smith.
The midfielder landed a deadline day loan move to Oldham for the remainder of the season.
“The next step for me is getting into a team and playing more regularly and this is a place where I can do this,” O’Neill told the Oldham website.
“The Premier League is a massive level, so it’s not easy to get into a team and stay.
“This is the next level in my career so hopefully I can help Oldham stay up.”

O’Neill could make his debut for struggling Oldham on Saturday in the league against Chesterfield.
“I know a little bit about the league but not much,” he said.
“It’s Chesterfield on Saturday so I’m looking forward to that and can’t wait to show the fans what I can do.”
