MELBOURNE Victory star Ney Fabiano has had his suspension reduced from nine matches to six - but his appeal against the spitting finding was thrown out.
The Independent Appeal Committee, comprising Alan Sullivan QC, Arthur Koumoukelis and Brad Maloney tonight dismissed the appeal.
They back up the finding that Fabiano intentionally spat at Robert Cornthwaite in the Round 4 match between Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United.
But an FFA statement added: "The Independent Appeal Committee upheld Fabiano's appeal in relation to the sanction for the offence, and reduced it to the minimum sanction for the offence of five matches plus the mandatory match suspension for a total of six matches."
Fabiano will be able to play in the Hyundai A-League again in round 11.
