The match to be played on Wednesday 16 February (6pm kick-off) at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville, will feature an All Stars XI coached by Frank Farina and an Ufuk Talay (Fury) XI under the guidance of Mark Bosnich.

With the Fury unable to play their last final match of the season at home due to cyclone Yasi, Fury management decided to arrange a charity match to enable the Fury faithful to give Ufuk Talay the send-off his 18-year professional career deserves and to allow both parties - the club and its supporters - to finish the season off in style.

For Mareeba-born Farina, Wednesday will be the first time he has stalked the sidelines since he departed the Brisbane Roar last season and he couldn't be more excited about the being involved in this one-off match.

"When I got the call earlier this week, I didn't hesitate in saying yes. Not only has Ufuk been a fantastic servant for Australian football throughout the years but the match will also raise funds for North Queensland Football's grassroots programmes.

"Just looking at the list of players in the All-Stars XI reads like a former squad list of mine, having coached many of these players previously whether at the Brisbane Strikers or at National Team level.

"Coming from Far North Queensland, I know how passionate people in this region are about football and the important part the sport plays in the lives of many communities, so on a personal level, I'm delighted to be involved in this match.

"The All Stars XI will not be there to make up the numbers, we will want to win and based on the recent form of Clint (Bolton), Wayne (Shroj) and particularly Sasho (Petrovski), I think we have an excellent chance," concluded Farina.

As for Bosnich, it may have come four months after the original attempt but the former Manchester United and Chelsea ‘keeper will finally get to take the reins of the Fury. The Fury had asked Mark to be part of the coaching set-up for the club's week 11 Hyundai A-League match against Newcastle after head coach Franz Straka was banned, but unfortunately on that occasion the gods weren't smiling on the Fury.

"I don't think it's much of a secret that I'm a big fan of the Fury. I was so disappointed not to have been allowed to help mentor the team earlier this season but I'm delighted to be involved in this match.

"The All Stars team is turning into a who's who of Australian football and with Frank (Farina) at the helm, I'm expecting a tough encounter, but I'm confident that my team will have their measure on the night," expressed Bosnich.

On confirming their participation, NQ Fury CEO Rabieh Krayem said; "This is massive news. To have two icons of Australian football coaching the sides next Wednesday is a real coup. I don't think Townsville nor North Queensland will see this many high profile footballers on the one pitch again for some time.

"When we started to think about who we wanted to coach these two sides, there was only two people, Frank Farina and Mark Bosnich.

"Frank Farina is the most successful footballer to come out of North Queensland and after our false start with Mark (Bosnich) early this season, he couldn't finish the season not seeing him take his place on the sideline.

"Just speaking to both of them over the past couple of days, I know how much they want to win this match and I'm sure we are in for a highly competitive, if not entertaining contest on Wednesday evening."

Confirmed All Stars XI line-up;
Those already confirmed in the All Stars XI are Clint Bolton (currently Melbourne Heart), Steve Corica (former Sydney FC), Wayne Shroj (currently Melbourne Heart), Mark Rudan (former Sydney FC), Craig Moore (former Brisbane Roar), Sasho Petrovski (currently Newcastle Jets), Andy Harper (former Marconi and Fox Sports Football analyst), Franz Straka, Stuart McLaren, Robbie Middleby and now Frank Farina as Coach.
