Farina's name has been strongly linked with the job and the man himself is happy to throw his hat into the ring.

He told the Townsville Bulletin today that it would be the 'perfect' job and that he would relish the chance to help a new-look Fury push forward.

However, with Farina and his former employer locked in a court battle over his dismissal and Football Federation Australia now running the show in Townsville, the ex Socceroos boss is concerned that may count against him when it comes to landing the role.

''Well I have a legal issue with the Roar and the FFA have a stake in that club,'' Farina said.

''Now the FFA have a stake in keeping the Fury alive so I'm not too sure that really works out in my favour."

A-League boss Archie Fraser said it was 'great' if Farina was putting his hand up for consideration.

Marquee striker Robbie Fowler is another name strongly linked with the role but the FFA appear reluctant to go down the route of a player-coach.
