Tiatto picked up two yellow cards and was sent off by referee Ben Williams in the 75th minute at Bluetongue Stadium.

But Farina did not want to make comment on the decision, preferring to focus on his team's impressive display in the first leg of the semi-final.

"I don't have a view, if I have a view I get in trouble," Farina said. "I'm going to be boring."

Tiatto was lucky to stay on the field for his first challenge on Andre Gumprecht in the first half but he should never have picked up a second yellow card for his challenge on Dylan Macallister in the second half after clearly getting the ball in his challenge.

He will now miss the return leg at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Despite the disappointment of having a star player sent off Farina was delighted with the victory and said his team would push for an early goal to kill off the Mariners in the return leg.

"I'm happy with the result," he said.

"I've never believed in sitting back and defending a lead. We'll be looking to score."

Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna was a shattered man, insisting his team would have to improve dramatically to have any hope over overhauling Queensland.

"Too many times under pressure we were giving the ball away," McKinna said.

"There'll be changes next week for sure."

Mariners skipper Alex Wilkinson said that it was important the team stuck together.

"In the second half we played like a bunch of individuals," he said.
