DANNY Tiatto can count on the backing of Frank Farina following Football Federation Australia's decision to hit him with a charge of breaching the national code of conduct.
Tiatto was sent off in the first leg of the minor semi-final against Central Coast Mariners after picking up two yellow cards.
He was furious at the second caution and his reaction to referee Ben Williams' decision has not gone down well at FFA HQ.
An FFA statement read: "Football Federation Australia (FFA) has alleged that Tiatto has breached the National Code of Conduct in relation to his conduct following the issue of the second yellow card. Queensland Roar and Tiatto have been asked to provide a response on this allegation. A decision will not be available on this matter until 11 February."
Farina told the Courier Mail: "I'll defend Danny until the cows come home.
"I love him as a player, I love him as a person, and people that don't know him, don't understand him.
"They just look at whatever his record is, or the opinion that some people have on him, but that's not Danny Tiatto. He's not a threat to referees."
Farina doesn't believe it was anything more than frustration on his player's part.
"I don't believe that there was any malice intended, or he was trying to do anything else. He was just upset," said Farina.
