Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Adelaide United was doubly costly as it also snatched away the chance of Asian Champions League football at Suncorp Stadium for the first time.

This latest setback against the Reds follows last season's final match of the regular campaign when a 2-0 defeat at Hindmarsh deprived Queensland of both the Premier's Plate and an ACL spot.

However, Farina still believes his players can handle the pressure when it comes to the crunch.

As the dust settles on the campaign, Farina believes his squad has progressed despite the disappointment.

He told the Courier Mail: "I was proud of the way the players performed. We're certainly not chokers.

"We're a good side and I'm sure we'll be there again next year. You lose and you've got to face what anybody wants to say, the people that will pat you on the back and others that will call you chokers.

"They're stirrers. They like to come up with something."

Farina said after the defeat that the nucleus of the squad would stay together for next season with one or two additions to be sought.

However, Farina will have to prepare for next season without youngster Tahj Minniecon who is bound for Gold Coast United.
