Faroe Islands 0 Ukraine 2
Ukraine kept themselves in the hunt for a place at Euro 2008 with a one-sided win over the Faroe Islands.
Volodymyr Yezerskiy and Oleg Gusev were the goalscorers either side of the break as the Faroe Islands' quest for a goal or a point in Group B enters its sixth game.
Ukraine, despite missing talismanic striker Andriy Shevchenko through injury, inevitably looked to turn the screw from the off.
Andriy Voronin was the first to test Jakup Mikkelsen from 20 yards and the pressure remained on the home goal until the breakthrough came 20 minutes in.
And it was Yezerskiy who netted by drilling into the top right-hand corner from 20 yards.
Taras Mykhalyk curled an effort past the far post and Anatoliy Tymoschuk met Maxim Kalinichenko's corner with a decent effort that rose up and over the bar.
Ukraine came close on three further occasions - a close-range Mykhalyk header the best chance - as the half drew to a close, while at the other end the Faroes failed to draw a save out of Olexandr Shovkovskiy.
Indeed, it was the 50th minute before the home side showed any adventure at all, Simun Samuelsen letting fly from 35 yards.
But seven minutes later, Ukraine made the game safe when Gusev slid low into the corner from 12 yards after Andriy Nesmachniy had headed the ball into his path.
Oleksiy Byelik should have made it three shortly after, wastefully pulling the ball wide from the middle of the goal.
Suni Olsen shot wide as the Faroes looked for a consolation and Ukraine's Oleksiy Byelik was wasteful when well placed just inside the area.
Kalinichenko was left kicking himself after, unmarked, he squandered two simple chances, one with his head and the other a volley.
Tymoschuk's fierce drive then removed a layer of paint from Mikkelsen's right-hand post.
Ukraine, though, were content with two goals and the three points and took their foot off the gas in the last 20 minutes with one eye on Wednesday's home encounter with Lithuania.
