ROBBIE Fowler's winner against Sydney FC grabbed the headlines but coach Ian Ferguson was just as keen to focus on his team's backline after an historic triumph for the A-League new boys.
Fowler raced away to crack home a truly wonderful strike past Clint Bolton to give the visitors all three points at the Sydney Football Stadium.
"The boys were great. I'm just delighted," Ferguson said. "I think we deserved something against Brisbane last week and Adelaide the week before.
"That's six points we could have had and now we've made history with the club's first ever win against a glamour club."
While delighted with Fowler's efforts Ferguson said the effort put in by his back four was equally worthy of accolades.
The Fury coach added: "We've been working very hard in defence and Stefanutto and Middleby - Dodd and Tambouras - they were fantastic for us at the back.
"They gave us what we wanted from them and it helped us to a result."
Next up for Fury is a trip to Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.
