THE spectre of the A-League's wooden spoon means North Queensland Fury's final game of the campaign is anything but a pressure-free affair, insists Ian Ferguson.
Most of the focus is on Fury's opponents Gold Coast United this weekend as Miron Bleiberg's men look to try and secure a top two finish.
However, Fury boss Ferguson is adamant there is plenty at stake for his own team with everyone at the club desperate to avoid finishing last.
A defeat for Fury and three points for Adelaide would see North Queensland dumped in the A-League basement.
''If I was sitting probably six points ahead of Adelaide with one game to go, I'd probably say, yeah, because there's not that pressure in sitting bottom of the league," Ferguson told the Townsville Bulletin.
''But we still have the added pressure that if we lose and Adelaide win, there's a possibility we could go there.
''It'd be a sore one for us because what those boys have given us over the year has been nothing short of fantastic, and I would hate for them and myself and the club to be sitting at the bottom of the league by the time the game's over.
''We'll go out and give everything we've got, we won't change our philosophy or how we want to play the game."
Looking at the other possibility, Fury could end the regular season as high as seventh if everything goes their way this weekend.
