While the official club line is that a breakdown in communication/misunderstanding caused the extraordinary weekend events to unfold, the rumours persist that the relationship between player and coach is severely fractured.

Chairman Don Matheson held talks with the pair on Monday and emerged to inform the media that both were committed to the Fury cause.

However, a media report then emerged to suggest that Fowler had handed the club a 'him or me' ultimatum.

Ferguson has rubbished such claims and insists the incident has been put to bed.

''There was nothing like that at all,'' Ferguson told the Townsville Bulletin.  ''I don't know where that's come from. I don't know anything about it.

''As far as I'm concerned there was nothing like that ever said.

''There was no threats about anyone leaving, it was just a case of trying to fix two differences. We've sorted that and there's no more to say on it."

Ferguson has confirmed that Fowler will be back in the starting line up for this weekend's A-League clash with Newcastle Jets.
