The 2015 edition of the FFA Cup has gained an enormous amount of excitement before a ball has been kicked. Too get you in the mood let's take a look back at some of the best moments of the inaugural edition last year.

1) Sydney Derby - Old School vs New

This game was the highlight fixture of the cup, as football lovers hd an opportunity to see one team who graced the old NSL go up against the glamour club of the A-League. A near 10,000 fans packed into Edensor Park on a cold winter's night to witness two cracking efforts by young midfielder Chris Naumoff which handed the Sky Blues a 3-1 win.

2) Dreams written in the smoke

Everyone's favourite team, the Bentleigh Greens defied the odds and the souvlaki smoke coming from the canteen, to become the first non A-League side to reach the semi finals. After victories over Blacktown City, Sydney Olympic and Adelaide City, the fairytale story for the Victorian side was cut short by a rampant Perth Glory outfit.

3) Happy hour never ends

The greatest story to come out of the FFA Cup was the fourth tier Victorian side, South Springvale. Described by their own fans as a "pub team" made national headlines after not only qualifying for the Cup itself, but defeating South Cardiff in the round of 32. Unfortunately their incredible run was ended by the Palm Beach Sharks in the round of 16, but the team was just really happy to get a free trip to the Gold Coast.

4) David vs Goliath

The biggest question that every Australian football fan asks is how did the Western Sydney Wanderers go on to beat Guangzhou Evergrande and Al Hilal in the Asian Champions League but not a semi-professional Adelaide City? Up step Thomas Love's the young South-Australian dazzled his way through the Wanderers' defence for a famous history for the proud historical club and arguably the biggest shock of the 2014 FFA Cup.

5) Arnie seeing red

The most controversial game to be played throughout last years edition of the cup. Now former Sydney FC defender Nikola Petkovic was controversially sent off much to the dismay and confusion of Sydney coach Graham Arnold, as the Sky Blues were knocked out of the FFA Cup quarter finals after a 3-1 extra-time defeat to eventual winner Adelaide United.

6) Thriller in the wild wild west

At 1-1 with 10 minutes to go, former Glory marksman Andy Keogh thought he had scored the winner against the Melbourne Victory until Gui Finkler stepped up in stoppage time and scored a free kick 30 yards out to send the match into extra time. This is where the drama only started as the extra period saw Victory pair Adrian Leijer and Daniel Georgievski receive their marching orders, as the Glory went on to score another two and book their place in the semi finals.

Not only did he score with his first touch but he went on to score another three in a classic 20 minute cameo, securing a 5-0 victory and a semi final berth for the Central Coast.
