In the three-page letter to Victorian clubs and media on Thursday, Monteleone gives an update on the NPLV's progress and takes aim at "misleading" comments circulating in the past few months.

Monteleone states that the FFV has the full backing from Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop in regards to the implementation of the new league in Victoria.

It is also mentions that contrary to recent media reports, the suggestions of a general meeting being called by zone representatives to remove the FFV board are wrong.

There has been a substantial backlash within the Victorian football community to FFV’s NPL model, but the federation has refused to budge on their stance.

A total of 53 clubs have joined forces to oppose the league structure claiming it is, among other things, financially unviable.

Licences for the NPLV are currently being assessed by an independent panel led by a Director of Football Queensland and former Brisbane Roar CEO, Eugenie Buckley. Successful applicants will be announced on September 30.

Fifteen clubs have submitted applications for the NPLV, but big clubs such as Melbourne Knights, South Melbourne and Green Gully are all part of the 53 clubs who have decided against lodging an application.

Despite this, FFV stated the assessment period may be extended if required, giving clubs the chance to submit an application if the issues are resolved in Magistrates court.
