The Scots retained their place on top of Group B in the Euro 2008 qualifiers with a late 2-1 win over Georgia at the weekend.

McManus' Celtic team-mate Craig Beattie came off the bench to force home a dramatic winner after Shota Arveladze had cancelled out Kris Boyd's early opener.

After an unconvincing show, Scotland now travel to face the World Cup winners but McManus believes they can get a positive result.

The Celtic defender stopped AC Milan scoring in 180 minutes of football before their extra-time Champions League defeat earlier this month and he takes confidence from that.

McManus said: "It's a great bunch of lads with a really good team spirit, all the boys fight for each other.

"You never know what can happen. The most important thing is to believe in ourselves. Every one of us will run through a brick wall for each other."

McManus made his first international start against Georgia after coming off the bench for his debut against Ukraine in October.

And he feels like he has arrived in the team now. "When you play in any side you don't really feel part of it until you actually play," he said.

"It's all about respect, the other players realise you are not too bad and can cope at this level."

McManus and central defensive partner David Weir were solid apart from Georgia's equaliser just before the break.

Giorgi Demetradze turned Weir inside out before crossing for Arveladze to sneak in front of McManus to head home.

But McManus pointed to a deflection off Weir as a crucial touch which took the cross away from right-back Graham Alexander and himself.

He said: "There was a deflection, you are expecting it to drop in a certain position.

"That is something you are going to learn from, I'm not going to be down. It puts Graham off as well, but it's a fantastic finish."
