MELBOURNE Victory midfielder Gui Finkler will miss the rest of the A-League season after scans revealed his knee will require a full reconstruction.
Finkler injured his knee during the first half of Victory's 2-1 loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday, but the club initially hoped that limited damage had been done.
Scans on Wednesday, however, showed that the 27-year-old had in fact ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for up to 12 months.
The Brazilian took to his Twitter account to show his disappointment.
"Today is the worst day in my life. But I will be here supporting MVFC...and I will be back as soon as possible," Finkler tweeted.
Victory's next A-League match is against the Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park on Saturday.
