ADELAIDE United's Johnny Warren Medal winning playmaker Marcos Flores has vowed to stay in the A-League next season...but challenged rival clubs to beat the Reds best offer to him.
Adelaide are said to have offered him a three year $330,000 a year marquee deal if he sticks with the club after a stellar season which saw the Reds challenging for the Premiership.
But Melbourne Victory are said to be circling the Argentinean attacking midfielder and have freed up a visa slot in their squad with the departure of the disappointing Marvin Angulo.
Today Flores held a press conference at Adelaide and insisted he was not looking to leave Australia...but opened the door for rival clubs to start a bidding war for his services by beating Adelaide's deal.
"I have to look after me," he said today. "If this was the best they could offer me then I appreciate this effort.
"I want to stay in Adelaide; I wish to stay with Adelaide. I never compare Adelaide with other countries."
But he warned he could measure his worth against what other club in Australia would offer him - but if they couldn't beat Adelaide's offer, the club had nothing worry about
"I can't compare with Qatar or Japan or Korea but I compare with Australia," he added.
"If Adelaide is OK with that, they should be relaxed."
Flores insisted his heart was in Adelaide and loved the club's fans so much, he offered to play with them at his home for free for four hours.
But he said he also had to look after the business side of his life - and would now meet with club officials to hammer out a deal.
"This is the last time I want to talk about my contract," he added. "I will talk in one room with the owners and with the coaches ... not here."
