EXCLUSIVE: Football NSW has set up a tribunal to probe a referee's report about the post-match incidents following the game between Sydney United and Manly.
Football NSW issued a statement this morning following the referee Matthew Gillet's report exclusively revealed on au.fourfourtwo.com which outlined alleged improper behaviour towards the referee and others following the Sydney United versus Manly game on the weekend.
The statement says: "Football NSW has received reports on an incident which is alleged to have taken place at the conclusion of the First Grade fixture between Sydney United and Manly United on Saturday 26th of July 2008.
"The circumstances detailed in the reports does not involve the players or coaching personnel of either team.
"In accordance with Football NSW by-laws the matter has been referred to the General Purposes Tribunal by the Executive of Football NSW.
"It is the responsibility of the General Purposes Tribunal to investigate and determine any breach of the by-laws and regulations of Football NSW in respect to the Conduct which is asserted to have taken place.
"There will be no further comment from Football NSW until the General Purposes Tribunal has enquired into the facts and circumstances of the reported event and the due process has been completed."
There is no mention in the statement of when the tribunal will sit, whether it is independent or internal, in public or in private, who will sit on it and which witnesses will be called.
