“We've got some real characters, some drama, a few tears and laughter and some absolutely awesome football talent,” Taylor told au.fourfourtwo.com today.

“It's a wonderfully entertaining show.”

The show has been dubbed “Football Idol” with the final 15 contestants on the show living in a plush home as the competition to find the first Football Superstar reaches its climax.

The winner will receive a one-year youth team contract with Sydney FC.

Taylor, a former star player in the Matildas now presents sport and news on WIN TV in Wollongong, south of Sydney.

The former defender presents Football Superstar alongside Irish singer Brian McFadden, himself a football fan and boyfriend of Aussie songstress Delta Goodrem.

“I got a call to audition and didn't hear from them for quite a while," said Amy.

"I just assumed it'd fallen by the wayside but then I got a call to see if I wanted to work with someone else on the show. That turned out to be Brian McFadden, which was quite a surprise."

She added: “He's a bit of a lad and we got on pretty well. And I think that came across on camera pretty well.

“I'm stoked and very excited to be doing something outside the norm. And the fact that it involves football is even better.

"It's a good opportunity to put together the two loves of my life: football and TV,” said the 26-year-old glamour.

“It just shows you how far the A-League has come. I think on the show they have stats saying the crowds have grown 30 percent since the league started.”

And Taylor – who also runs her own football team in Wollongong, the Illawarra Stingrays – can't wait for the A-League to come to the south coast.

“I think an A-League franchise from Wollongong will be wonderful," she said.
"Look at how strong the area has been in the past.

"Before the A-League came along the Wolves won two NSL grand finals. So we've got a good history and the facilities too.

“And just look at some of the players the region has produced even in the national team, such as Scott Chipperfield, Mile Sterjovski and Ruben Zadkovich.

“Absolutely I'd support it.”

Taylor continues to present the news and sport on WIN TV in Wollongong while traveling the one hour to Sydney to shoot Football Superstar.

Now Taylor isn't ruling out any future career move to Fox Sports either.

She added: "You can never rule anything out but right now I have a contract with WIN and they've been very supportive of me in this project."
