ROBBIE Fowler will be restricted to autograph and promotional duties this weekend with North Queensland Fury unwilling to risk their injured marquee man in Rockhampton.
The groin injury which prevented his appearance for Fury in Singapore last weekend is improving but not sufficiently for coach Ian Ferguson to pitch him into matches against Capricorn Cougars or Central Coast Mariners.
"Robbie won't play over the weekend, but he will be here to sign autographs and do all promotional stuff," Ferguson told the Rockhampton Bulletin.
"He's had a scan and so far results that have come back say that it all looks reasonably positive so hopefully we'll have him in (the team) within the next couple of weeks."
Fowler's absence has saddened Fury's first opponents who won't face the former Liverpool man this evening.
Cougars coach Brad Smith said: "I think the boys will be disappointed he's not playing without a doubt."
In other news, Fury are trialling former Leicester City goalkeeper Paul Henderson following his exit from the newly-promoted Championship club.
