FURIOUS Robbie Fowler's revenge clash with former club North Queensland Fury is close to a sellout for Perth Glory with only a handful of tickets left on sale for tonight's match.
Glory have urged fans planning to attend the club’s season opener to arrive early after ticket sales exceeding all expectations.
Marquee star Fowler's arrival at the club and his public spat with Fury over his treatment when the club collapsed after owner Don Matheson withdrew his support has sparked excitement among fans.
The club confirmed today they were opening the third tier of nib Stadium for the clash - and just a few tickets were left on sale with a crowd of 19,000 expected to push through the turnstiles for the 8pm kick-off.
“Pre-sale tickets are currently five times higher than any previous Perth Glory game and all records have been broken,” a club statement said.
Glory have struggled to revive the crowds from their NSL heyday, but tonight’s attendance could exceed the previous record of 18,067 set against South Melbourne in the 1998-99 season of the now defunct competition.
