EXCLUSIVE: Former Liverpool superstar Robbie Fowler is due to arrive in Australia on January 20, say sources in the UK.
Fowler, 34, is currently on the outer at English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers who have had a recent managerial change with Sam Allardyce coming in for Paul Ince.
Fowler is keen to kickstart his career and sees the A-League as the ideal destination.
The one-time England striker has already flirted with an A-League contract in 2007 when he arrived in Sydney for a brief stay.
However, that didn't work out and the player eventually signed with Cardiff City.
One club mentioned as a possible destination is North Queensland Fury.
Fury's original marquee signing Jade North famously wriggled out of his new deal after a big money offer came in from K-League side Incheon United last month.
However, Fury Chairman Don Matheson has denied knowledge of any Fowler link up at this stage.
"As you know, we're still negotiating with Scott Chipperfield but Fowler is a big name with a big price tag, I'd imagine," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"There are no plans."
