FORMER Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler will have talks with new A-League outfit North Queensland Fury and their boss Ian Ferguson.
Fowler, who underwent similar talks with Sydney FC only two seasons ago, was released by Blackburn Rovers after just three appearances following a transfer from second-tier club Cardiff City.
Fury coach Ian Ferguson is confident that the Anfield legend is interested in a move down under.
"He has agreed to catch up in Townsville for a few days and obviously we will be talking about football," Ferguson said.
"We're looking for a marquee player and Robbie easily fits that position in any A-League football club."
"His record speaks for itself. He's a pure goal scorer who would lift the profile of football in this country to a new level if he decided to play in the A-League."
Fowler scored 120 goals from 236 games for Liverpool and also had success at Leeds and to a lesser extent Manchester City.
Ferguson also hinted at other candidates should Fowler’s signature allude the Fury including Socceroo Scott Chipperfield.
