Domenech expects Italy to secure the draw they need at Hampden on November 17 to all but secure qualification for Euro 2008, and for his team to hold their nerve against Ukraine four days later.

The Azzurri are a point behind the Scots heading into their Group B clash, but they have a game in hand - against the Faroe Islands the following Wednesday.

A point at Hampden Park and a victory over the Faroes would seal the world champions' passage to next summer's tournament, and Domenech is sure the Italians will finish the job.

"In my opinion, Italy are going to get a draw in Scotland," said the France coach, speaking on the French Football Federation website www.fff.fr.

If that happens, current group leaders France would need just a point from their last match - against Ukraine in Kiev on November 21 - to qualify ahead of Scotland.

Domenech said: "We should get a draw in Ukraine.

"We shouldn't have to wait for the results of one team or the other to motivate ourselves or reassure ourselves. It depends on us."
