GREGORY COUPET (Lyon, 31/12/72) - Coupet has made the number one jersey his own following the retirement of Fabien Barthez. Experienced and composed, he is strong on crosses and a good communicator with his back four.

MICKAEL LANDREAU (Paris St Germain, 14/05/79) - Established himself as understudy to Coupet but has had a mixed campaign with struggling Paris St Germain. Great shot-stopper but has made a number of high-profile mistakes at club level this season.

SEBASTIEN FREY (Fiorentina, 18/03/80) - Will only be involved if there is an injury to Coupet or Landreau. Made a glaring error in his one and only cap so far for France - against Ukraine last year - but is a strong all-round keeper.

DEFENDERS

WILLY SAGNOL (Bayern Munich, 18/03/77) - Remains Domenech's first-choice right-back even though he has been injured for long spells this season. Unfussy and dependable.

BACARY SAGNA (Arsenal, 14/02/83) - Has just enjoyed a great first season with the Gunners. Powerful and decent going forward, he just needs experience and he should be France's right-back for years to come.

ERIC ABIDAL (Barcelona, 11/09/79) - Managing to hold onto the left-back jersey, despite growing pressure from Patrice Evra and Gael Clichy. Not had the best of first seasons with Barca, but is solid and can also fill in at centre-back.

PATRICE EVRA (Manchester United, 15/05/81) - Pushing Abidal for a starting place after a couple of superb recent seasons with United. Adds another dimension going forward with his pace and has improved defensively.

LILIAN THURAM (Barcelona, 01/01/72) - France's rock at the back, Thuram is heading into probably his last major tournament. Impeccable alongside William Gallas at centre-back for Les Bleus, Barca's rotation policy has not aided his form at club level.

WILLIAM GALLAS (Arsenal, 17/08/77) - Generally faultless, the Arsenal captain is one of the world's best defenders thanks to his positioning, pace and reading of the game. Is arguably in his prime and has few flaws in his game, apart from a dodgy temperament.

JULIEN ESCUDE (Sevilla, 17/08/79) - First-choice back-up to Gallas or Thuram, Escude is a cultured left-sided centre-back who can also operate at left-back. A solid all-round defender who rarely gets a mention but is highly rated by Domenech.

PHILIPPE MEXES (Roma, 30/03/82) - Only played eight times for France since making his debut in October 2002, but has suffered because of the number of quality centre-backs available to Domenech. Is small for a centre-back but has a prodigious leap, is good on the ball and is improving markedly at Roma.

MIDFIELDERS

FRANCK RIBERY (Bayern Munich, 07/04/83) - One of the best players in Europe this season, he is being tipped to light up the Euros. Labelled by some as the 'New Zidane', the Bayern Munich winger has great close control, a superb final ball and is adding goals to his repertoire.

SIDNEY GOVOU (Lyon, 27/07/79) - Continues to deliver the goods at Lyon but will have to content himself with being back-up to Ribery this summer. Can play on either wing and has an eye for goal.

FLORENT MALOUDA (Chelsea, 13/06/80) - Has had a disappointing first season with Chelsea and has hardly featured for them in 2008. But the left-winger still retains the confidence of Domenech and was a key performer for France in the 2006 World Cup.

HATEM BEN ARFA (Lyon, 07/03/87) - One of France's rising stars, he is being linked with a move to a number of Europe's heavyweight clubs. Has superb skill and touch but should have a peripheral role this summer.

PATRICK VIEIRA (Inter Milan, 23/06/76) - Many are doubting whether the experienced centre-midfielder still has it in him to perform at the highest level owing to his injury problems this season. The France captain is still a class act when fully fit, though.

CLAUDE MAKELELE (Chelsea, 18/02/73) - Made the midfield anchorman role his own and is still imperious in that position, even though he is now 35. A permanent fixture in France's team, he remains one of Domenech's undroppables.

JEREMY TOULALAN (Lyon, 10/09/83) - Has really come on over the last two seasons although he will struggle to break up the Vieira-Makelele axis. Has a good range of passing, is a good reader of the game and has a prodigious work-rate.

LASSANA DIARRA (Portsmouth, 10/03/85) - Domenech is a big fan of Diarra, who is finally getting some regular first-team football thanks to his move to Pompey. A centre-midfielder by trade, but his versatility means he can also play at full-back or on the right of midfield.

SAMIR NASRI (Marseille, 26/06/87) - Another to be given the 'New Zidane' label, the skilful Nasri has had an average season with OM by his lofty standards but is still a matchwinner on his day. May have to take a back seat this summer with Domenech preferring more defensive players in the centre of midfield.

FORWARDS

THIERRY HENRY (Barcelona, 17/08/77) - France's all-time leading goalscorer and a proven world-class finisher at the highest level. Has had an indifferent season at Barca but Domenech is tipping his star striker to come good at the Euros.

NICOLAS ANELKA (Chelsea, 14/03/79) - Should start alongside Henry if France go with two up front. Looks to have matured as a striker over the past few years, with his pace, close control and goalscoring ability a threat to any defence.

KARIM BENZEMA (Lyon, 19/12/87) - Many among the French media think Benzema - who has enjoyed an amazing season with Lyon - should be France's first-choice striker. Likely, however, to play third fiddle behind Henry and Anelka but is a definite star of the future and is in the shop window at the Euros.
