The Englishman fell awkwardly during the first half of Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Newcastle Jets and although the scans are not yet back, it is feared he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

If so, that will see him sidelined for the rest of the season, adding to coach Ian Ferguson's injury woes.

"It doesn't look good. It looks like an ACL injury, another one," said Ferguson.

It was a depressing afternoon all round for Fury who slumped back to the bottom of the table as a result of the defeat.

Ferguson said the Fury team which took the pitch was nothing like the one that had surprised the rest of the A-League in the past five weeks and struggled to find positives apart from goalkeeper Paul Henderson's tireless effort.

"We've got a few weeks off now to get some players in and get some players back, Ufuk Talay and Karl Dodd should be right for the next game," Ferguson said.

"We'll also need to work on what we need to do to get back playing the way we were for the past few months."
