EXCLUSIVE: North Queensland Fury chairman Don Matheson has heard nothing from Jade North to suggest the club's marquee star is poised for an overseas switch.
Earlier this week, Newcastle Jets owner Con Constantine told the Sydney media that three clubs had expressed interest in North.
But the hotline between Matheson and North has remained firmly silent with the Fury boss unwilling to worry about 'maybes' at this stage.
Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com today, Matheson said: "Knowing the sort of person Jade is, a high quality person, I imagine he'd be on the phone to talk to me if there was an issue to discuss.
"He has signed a contract here and there is a commencement date on it. He hasn't rung me and so until there is a situation where he does, it's all speculation."
As for further additions, Matheson admitted that 'three or four' overseas players had been targeted although contract regulations in Europe meant official talks could not really take place until January 1.
Matheson is very happy with the way matters are shaping up in Townsville and while efforts are ongoing to assemble a playing squad, there is a lot of work being done to capture the hearts and minds of potential supporters.
The club is poised to announce its ticket price packages for the inaugural campaign.
Matheson said: "We want to attract families and we want to attract those youngsters who are already enjoying playing the game.
"We want to get them in there, getting behind this team and hopefully they'll be inspired and want to pull on the shirt themselves in years to come."
North yesterday denied any knowledge of a move overseas.
