EXCLUSIVE: North Queensland Fury's squad will take further shape this week with the club poised to unveil a trio of signings on Friday.
Jade North has already been named as Fury's marquee player but chairman Don Matheson has revealed to au.fourfourtwo.com that others are about to follow.
No names have been released at this stage but Robbie Middleby is among those strongly linked with the Townsville franchise.
Middleby has been weighing up whether to stick or twist at current club Sydney FC with John Kosmina admitting last week that he'd spoken to the versatile performer about the switch.
Sydney striker Brendan Santalab has also been rumoured to have been approached by Fury, despite also being linked with Gold Coast United.
Matheson said: "There will be a major announcement on Friday regarding three players."
While it remains to be seen which names Fury have sealed deals with, the club name itself has caused something of a stir.
Not everyone has embraced 'Fury' or the club logo but Matheson insists it has been well received by the community that will get behind the club.
He said: "It's a name we feel comfortable with, a name we can market and it's also a name that came back to us when we went out to the community."
The club chairman also pointed to the endorsement of Football Federation Australia. If the governing body isn't happy then it doesn't matter what a club favours calling itself, he said.
Behind the scenes, Matheson said the hard work continued with appointments being made with a real appetite among everyone at the club to get stuck in and learn the business of being an A-League club as quickly as possible.
He said: "We are determined to have people recognise North Queensland as a competitive football club."
