As Fury wait for a 'yes' or 'no' from Fowler, they remain hopeful that Chipperfield can be tempted home to the A-League.

Fury chairman Don Matheson told the Townsville Bulletin: "We've definitely got the clout to bring both of these guys to the club.

"Ian Ferguson has been brilliant with the way he has put the team together.

"We're certainly comfortable with the position we're in with Scott at the moment."

Chipperfield looked set for a loan move from FC Basel to Hertha Berlin recently, only for injury to scupper the move.

However, it won't be an issue for the new A-League season and Matheson is hoping the lure of a new challenge will help sway the player.

"Scott's got to weigh up his overseas career now, at 33. It's an exciting opportunity for him to come back and finish his career off in Australia.

"That's the message we're getting from him," said Matheson.

Matheson is very happy with the way the squad is shaping up but insists local talent won't be ignored.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "Fergie will be looking at maybe four players in the state leagues as well."
