While the club's future remains uncertain, the club's coach is certain that a last-place finish would be undeserved.

He will be doing all he can to avoid that and expects his players to do the same, with their very careers possibly resting on them showing the necessary fight.

"For starters, no one at this proud club believes we should finish this campaign in last place," Straka told the Townsville Bulletin.

"It would be an insult to the effort and commitment shown by each individual and they will be 100 per cent committed to proving it. That I know for sure.

"Perhaps, though, the greatest indicator that Fury will continue to play to their best and as proudly as ever is that if any player slumps their shoulders and decides there is no reason to try hard then they will be putting their career in jeopardy.

"The last thing anyone interested in signing a player will like seeing is somebody who has thrown in the towel."

Fury have seven games remaining although their biggest challenge is off the field with the club needing to raise more than a million dollars before the end of this month to give themselves a fighting chance of survival.
