NORTH Queensland Fury chairman Don Matheson has revealed that Asian-based potential sponsors/investors will head for Townsville in the next month.
While Fury's first action on the field ended in a 1-0 defeat in Singapore, efforts off the field appear to have been rather more succesful.
Matheson said the Singapore trip was an important opportunity to promote the club and to try and secure fresh interest and support.
To that end, numerous meetings with businesses and groups have been successful in persuading them to take a closer look at the club.
Matheson has said two potential sponsors and investors will head to Australia for further discussions.
"I have to be careful that I don't get too carried away on this but they are very impressed with the club, very impressed with the way we've presented ourselves," he told the Townsville Bulletin.
"We've got two groups now coming to Australia within the next two to three weeks. It's been a really worthwhile trip for us in that position on a few different fronts, so it's pretty exciting."
Back on the pitch, Fury head for Rockhampton this weekend where they will play a local side on Friday before tackling Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.
Marquee star Robbie Fowler will continue to be monitored but boss Ian Ferguson is hopeful that a niggling groin problem won't scupper the striker's chances of a debut.
