Fyfe received a yellow card in the 43rd minute of the match against Perth Glory last night, which was listed and reported to be his fifth booking, meaning an automatic one match suspension.

However Football Federation Australia (FFA) this morning confirmed it was only Fyfe's fourth card of the season, not his fifth, leaving him eligible to take on the Mariners.

Confusion around Fyfe's tally of yellow cards arose when he was incorrectly booked back in Week 9 against Sydney FC after a foul committed by team mate Adam Hughes. However, after the referee and FFA officials reviewed footage of the game, the card was rightly transferred from Fyfe's to Hughes' record.

Current Hyundai A-League rules state that any player who accumulates five yellow cards from the club's 1st to 21st match of the season will serve a one match suspension, while a total of eight yellow cards during the regular season will equate in a two match ban. However, any player who receives a fifth yellow card between the club's 22nd and 30th matches of the season will not serve a suspension.

While Fyfe is free for the trip to Gosford, the Reds will be without fellow centre back Robert Cornthwaite, who will serve a one match ban after receiving a straight red card in the 75th minute against the Glory. Cornthwaite will however be available for the Reds' Adelaide Oval blockbuster against Sydney FC on December 29.

The Reds will have a recovery session at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow morning before training at 9am at Hindmarsh Stadium on Christmas Day and then flying out for Sydney en route to Gosford on Saturday afternoon.
